That's not bad lighting, that's good old Howard Hawks with all of his shadows and kerosene lamps and murky atmosphere and dark alleys (remember " The Big Sleep" (1946)?). For people who like well-made, entertaining movies with suspense, violence, horses, colorful characters, lots of shooting and a few pretty girls, "El Dorado" is about the most entertaining Western to turn up this year.Ī footnote: Pauline Kael, the New Republic's film critic, claims "El Dorado" has the second worst lighting she's seen in a movie. 89 mins More at IMDb TMDb Report this film. adventure comedy animation action family. For fans of the Western, there's a light-hearted but symbolic scene where Wayne tries to teach the kid the tricks of the cowboy trade. Without great care, the movie could have degenrated into a put-on, but Hawks plays it straight and never allows his actors to take that last fatal step in overacting. Hawks fashions scene after scene of quiet, earthy humor from this situation. Mitchum has been hitting the bottle for two months, his deputy (played with charm by Hunnicutt) is a windy old Indian fighter, Wayne has a bullet near his spine that causes a slight touch of paralysis now and again, and his sidekick (Caan) is a kid who carries a shotgun instead of a pistol because he's such a lousy shot. Then the rich rancher hires another gunman ( Christopher George), and Wayne sides up with the drunk and disheveled Mitchum.ĭuke's team isn't exactly made of heroes. But the sheriff turns out to be his old buddy, Mitchum, and so he turns down the job. Eldorado Canyon State Park is a day-use-park offering technical rock climbing, stream-side picnic areas and trails with panoramic vistas, all encompassed in. Wayne plays a professional gunman who comes to town to take a job from a rich rancher who wants a poor rancher's water (who says the plot has to be original?).

Let’s talk about the TPM and everything around it. (Don’t worry-we will get there.) But first things first… Win32_EncryptableVolume contains the methods and properties we can use to automate encryption tasks, such as the encryption of the drive and returning the percentage of the encryption. Win32_TPM contains methods and properties that we can use to automate TPM tasks on the local machine. The two main WMI classes you need to know about are: (The fact that the new “Nano Server” will only be administrable through WMI and Desired State Configuration proves it.) WMI has indeed been here with us for a while, and it will most certainly be here longer. When we wanted to automate encryption prior to Windows PowerShell 4.0, we had to dig in to that good old WMI technology. It is a tool written in Windows PowerShell that makes BitLocker tasks easier to automate. The fun stuffĪ lot of the following script examples come from a function I wrote called BitLockerSAK. But do not worry-we will go through the logic and in a very short moment, and everything will become crystal clear. What? Does it sound confusing? Yes! I agree. We need to take care of things such as taking ownership, clearing the TPM, and launching then encrypting the drive. So before you start to encrypt the hard drive, you need to do some specific TPM operations, which we will discuss in detail a bit later. The TPM is actually the microchip located on your motherboard that will encrypt your hard drive. And a certain order needs to be respected before any encryption operation can be done. Indeed, to encrypt a volume, you do not only work with the hard drive, but also with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). The second difficulty you might bump in to is the logic. But they only became available in systems with Windows PowerShell 4.0 (thus in Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2). When you start to script BitLocker encryption, you might think, “Cool. That is the drive that you need to be sure the thief does not have access to. In this post, I will guide you through the scripting steps to automate the encryption of drive C, which is very commonly the system drive. The encryption mechanism can be done by using the GUI, but at the Hey, Scripting Guy! Blog, we are more interested in the scripting side of things. Thus a thief cannot simply steal the laptop and plug the hard drive into his computer to access confidential information about the company. Without this PIN, the data on the hard drive is encrypted and cannot be accessed. This risk mitigation is handled by using BitLocker to encrypt the system drive of the computer.Ī security mechanism can be implemented that will limit access to the computer with a PIN code that needs to be given each time the device is booted. This is a risk that cannot be ignored, and it needs to be tackled by the IT department. Having this data accessed by someone with bad intentions could be a real issue for the business if the laptop is stolen or forgotten somewhere (that can happen, yes!). That laptop could potentially carry sensitive corporate data from clients or from their company. In today’s business world, many users are traveling and taking their laptops with them on their journeys. BitLocker is a Microsoft technology that allows you to encrypt a hard drive on a system. Today is a perfect day to give you a good introduction to BitLocker. This is be a two-part blog series and there is a lot of information to share. She thought he would be an excellent guest for the Hey, Scripting Guy! Blog, and I totally agreed. Stephane was introduced to me by The Scripting Wife, she was browsing the Internet and found his blog. Today we have a new guest blogger, Stephane van Gulick. Microsoft Scripting Guy, Ed Wilson, is here. Summary : Guest blogger, Stephane van Gulick, presents a practical hands-on post that shows how to use Windows PowerShell and BitLocker together. Bryan Rolli of Forbes opined the lyrics talk about the singer's "feelings of isolation and anguish", as exemplified in the chorus, "Anyone, please send me anyone / Lord, is there anyone? / I need someone". Olivia Truffaut-Wong of Bustle compared "Anyone" with " Skyscraper" (2011), another Lovato song that was also deemed as their musical comeback following their stint at a treatment center in 2010 for issues with bulimia and self-harm. Lovato first revealed the title of the track during an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music's Beats 1 on January 24, 2020, where they announced they would perform it at the 62nd Grammy Awards. Nevertheless, Lovato says when they crafted "Anyone", they put their "heart and soul" into the song." It was a scary time in my life, for sure. We didn't know how healthy I would be when I left. Lovato later explained in regard to their uncertainty on whether they would be able to return following the drug-related overdose, that "It was a general thought. While in the hospital, they recall “hearing back the songs I had just recorded" and upon hearing "Anyone", thinking "If there's ever a moment where I get to come back from this, I want to sing this song". Afterwards, Lovato completed a three-month stay at a rehabilitation center in treatment for their substance abuse. Four days after the track had been recorded, on July 24, 2018, Lovato suffered an overdose and was hospitalized for two weeks. They said, "At the time when I was recording it, I almost listened back and heard these lyrics as a cry for help I even think that I was recording it in a state of mind where I felt like I was okay, but clearly I wasn't". Lovato recorded "Anyone" in Montana, after setting a studio camp to write songs for an album project. On February 6, 2020, "Anyone Live from the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards" was released onto iTunes and all streaming services. The song also entered the top 20 in Scotland and the top 30 in Hungary. The song debuted at number 34 on the Billboard Hot 100, and became their first number one on the Digital Songs chart. Music critics praised Lovato's Grammy performance of "Anyone" and their vulnerability in the song given the context of their struggles with addiction and depression. The song was written by Lovato, Bibi Bourelly, Eyelar Mirzazadeh, Jay Mooncie, Sam Roman, and its producer Dayyon Alexander. "Anyone" was recorded four days before Lovato's overdose. That same day, it was made available for purchase and streaming. They performed it at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards on January 26, 2020, their first performance since suffering a near-fatal drug overdose in July 2018. " Anyone" is a song by American singer Demi Lovato, as the lead single from their seventh studio album Dancing with the Devil. Live from the 62nd Grammy Awards cover art Both characters were owned by Universal Studios, under the former video game division Universal Interactive and have since become an intellectual property of Activision, through the merger between Vivendi Universal Games and Activision to create Activision Blizzard.Īfter developing Disruptor, Insomniac president, Ted Price, contacted Zembillas to design a playable dragon character for a video game. The character has endured in popular culture as a mascot of the PlayStation video game console alongside Crash Bandicoot, having appeared in several games together with him. Spyro was designed and created by Charles Zembillas for Insomniac Games, the developers of the first three games in the series. Spyro is often accompanied by his best friend Sparx, who is a dragonfly. He is known for his ability to defeat enemies by breathing fire and charging at them, and his ability to glide to otherwise unreachable areas in the game world. Spyro is a cute, energetic, young, male, purple dragon. Kotick himself is also at the center of the controversy as he was reportedly not just aware of all the shady inner workings in Activision, but that he was also part of the problem.įollowing these reports, Xbox head Phil Spencer and PlayStation chief Jim Ryan have both sent separate statements to their respective staff members effectively condemning Activision's CEO.Īt the moment, there are talks of Activision abandoning its yearly Call of Duty release schedule.Spyro is the titular main character and protagonist of the Spyro video game series, including The Legend of Spyro, and a guest character in the Skylanders series, first appearing in Spyro the Dragon in 1998. Even though many of those named in such lawsuits have already stepped down, Bobby Kotick remains in power. The publisher's most pressing issue remains the multiple sexual misconduct allegations filed against multiple high-ranking executives. However, if we were to hazard a guess, the studio might be working on Spyro 4, which was rumored earlier this year to be in development by Beenox, another Activision subsidiary.Īctivision currently finds itself facing several battles on multiple fronts. Unfortunately, we don't know exactly what it is. If this is true, then Activision might have given Toys for Bob the greenlight to work on something different. With that said, it appears that Activision is re-thinking its strategy in light of all that has happened in recent months. Thus, earlier this year, Toys for Bob was relegated to a support studio as it joined several other Activision subsidiaries in working on Call of Duty games. However, despite It's About Time's success, Activision's commitment to releasing a new Call of Duty game every year meant that the publisher needed all the help that it could get. After the success of the latter, Toys for Bob worked on the critically-acclaimed and commercially successful, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. Sane Trilogy, which it helped Vicarious Visions make, and Spyro Reignited Trilogy, which it led the development on. Then, in 2018, Toys for Bob played a role in bringing back classic platformers in Crash Bandicoot N. Is Toys for Bob working on something that's not Call of Duty? One particular job listing hints at this possibility.įor several years, Toys for Bob had the chance to work on some of Activision's most profitable franchises, specifically, Skylanders. Toys for Bob has had a long-standing relationship with Activision, having been acquired by the controversial publisher in 2005. Rapunzel's dress is a traditional German dress called the "Dirndl", with longer skirt than a normal Dirndl dress would sport, and her dress also has a purple theme, with a pink accent. Rapunzel also has light freckles, mostly around her nose, as well as large, bright green eyes, and a playful smile. The hair is noticeably shiny, like satin. She has fair skin with a light tint of blush to it and is mostly known for her golden blonde hair which in length is around 70 feet, though her hair is naturally brown, like her parents'. Rapunzel is 18 years old during the film, and is considered a beauty. Rapunzel is also rebellious, tough, and courageous, as seen with the thugs. Although she initially feared that the dream of seeing those lights may not meet her expectation and that there would be no other means to pursue in life after that dream has been fulfilled, Rapunzel is able to overcome those fears by having Flynn's support and belief that a new dream will emerge in place of the fulfilled one. She is very determined to accomplish her dream of seeing the floating lights, even strong-arming Flynn into going along with her plan and passing any other obstacle along the way, as well as tricking Gothel into making her beloved mother travel for three days to get a white paint for her birthday (of course, to buy some time). Rapunzel is also known, particularly by Pascal, to be quite trustworthy and never ever breaks the promises she makes. She is also very charismatic able to influence a group of pub thugs to share their dreams and convince Maximus, the palace steed of the Captain, to postpone his pursuit of Flynn until she fulfills her dream on her birthday (which is heavily emphasized). She is completely immune to Flynn's so-called charms and has little tolerance for his antics furthermore she doesn't hesitate to use her pan against Flynn in certain circumstances. She is quite daring leaping from tall cliffs and swinging great lengths. Despite having ambivalent feelings after leaving her tower in excitement to finally see the world, she confronts and rebels against Mother Gothel's wish of her returning to the tower after a short journey with Flynn Rider. While she longs to see the world beyond her window, she is very obedient to Mother Gothel. Her greatest passion is art, as indicated by the pervasive amount of painting on the walls inside the tower. Having spent all of her life isolated in a tower with little else to do, she is proficiently educated in literature, and talented in almost all areas such as music and baking and even more advanced subjects like astronomy, as illustrated by her completely charted astronomical patterns. However, she is not afraid to stand up for herself or others when the situation calls for bravery. Rapunzel is a spirited, clever, kind, and adventurous young woman, though a bit naive. However, she does not overcome Mother Gothel's strict guardianship and thus has been staying in the tower, longing for the day when her life "begins." Being immensely fascinated by the floating lanterns that took place on her birthday every year, Rapunzel begins to develop a sense of curiosity and seeks to fulfill the dream of seeing those "lights in the sky" one day. Rapunzel spends her time painting, cooking, candle-making, reading, brushing her hair, playing with Pascal, observing the outside world from within the tower, singing, and interacting with Mother Gothel. However, she does view Mother Gothel as her maternal mother despite being kidnapped. Kidnapped by Mother Gothel when she was still an infant, Rapunzel had been raised and locked away in a tall tower up until her 18th birthday, when she is 'rescued' by Flynn Rider. Rapunzel is not a typical Disney Princess she carries her blonde hair, which is 70-feet-long, and has the magical ability to both heal and reverse aging when she sings the special Healing Incantation song. Some could have been taken further (Snowfall, for example) but all make valuable contributions and I use some bits of all of them in most of my cities.īelow I’ve done a mini-review of each DLC, with links to the main review page. Taking stock of all the expansions, I don’t think any of them are bad. I’ll come back to this list after a few months to see if I still stand by it being an essential addition. Industries is new so it’s hard to know exactly where to place it. I initially wanted to rank these 1 through to 7, but ended up with these groupings instead. The most important DLC Essential: Mass Transit, Parklife and either Industries or Campus Great: After Dark, Green Cities Nice to have: Snowfall and Natural Disasters That means the base game is a lot more mature and complete than it was at launch, and is a fantastic experience even with nothing else installed. Play for a while and see what aspects you enjoy most, then buy DLC that gives you more of that.Īnd don’t worry about missing out – each expansion launched with a substantial free update that incorporated a lot of important fixes and improvements. The best advice for a new player is to start with the base game. If building clean, green, vegan cities is your thing, then Green Cities might be your first port of call. That said, your priorities will change the order: if you’re a tram aficionado then Snowfall might jump up your list. I’ve tried to think about which packs are the most impactful and whose additions are useful in pretty much every city. Any ‘best DLC’ list is always going to be subjective. The first two games were super-tongue-in-cheek homages to film noir with storylines about an evil pharmaceutical company and an illuminati-like organisation. In my opinion the writing and storyline has improved. The cover mechanic works well in that it's impossible to play it hiding behind a wall, most of the time you're running while shooting, activating bullet time at crucial points and shoot-dodging as last resorts. The game itself feels pretty challenging as you can get shot to death from full health within a few seconds if you make the wrong move. It's pretty clever the way they mask loading screens with cutscenes and you'll notice this when replaying chapters and trying to skip them. Furthermore, the first two games had a lot of cutscenes, so again this is something carried over. Technology has moved on to the point that we can watch 3d models interact with each other without cringing, and while the graphic novel pages were a brilliant gimmick, they were a gimmick nonetheless. Some people seem to mourne the absence of the graphic novel cutscenes but I actually welcome the switch to game-engine cutscenes. The graphics on the pc version look very sweet, and the euphoria engine elevates the shooting to a level that'll be hard to beat. I played the first two games in anticipation and MP3 retains the spirit of the gameplay, builds upon it and unfortunately introduces some minor flaws which I'll come to later. I feel like a lot of criticism comes from people looking back on the first two max payne games with rose tinted spectacles. I definitely need to play more in order to get a well-rounded and more definitive idea of its performance, though. I only ever played two multiplayer matches and they seemed to run fine on the P2P connection structure, though spawning was definitely an issue. I had a moment where all I did was move Max down some stairs and it initiated another cutscene almost immediately. The game also has a few moments where you literally play in order to make Max move a little ways before it thrusts you into a cutscene. Also, the screen distortion effects are both appreciated for representing Max's painkiller abuse and alcoholism, but sometimes it feels excessive, and my eyes get a little strained trying to keep up. Sometimes I feel like the words that are taken from the dialogue and shown on-screen stylistically make no sense, while sometimes it actually does highlight something important. I like exploring areas and taking in details and finding hidden items (which are actually present in Max Payne 3).įor the most part, I like the story enough to care, but some of the presentation feels a little gratuitous. And I also hate how the game will sort of bicker at you to move on. Within that thread is a link to download version 8 of DirectInput's driver compatible with Max Payne 3.īig thanks go to Nameless(TH) for the idea of getting the file and putting it in the Max Payne 3 folder! You rock, Nameless(TH).Yeah, I hate how one-and-done paced the story is. I am a complete, total and utter b00b.Īnyways, here's the link to the thread, although I have posted the fix below it if you don't want to bother opening the link in a new tab/window. I'm an idiot, however, as I'd forgotten to check the best place to look first. Running the game in windowed mode didn't work, reinstalling directX and VCRedists didn't work, and couldn't find a fix no matter where I looked online. I started the game up, and the mouse would just sit there at the bottom right of the screen, and wouldn't move no matter what I tried. I had this exact same problem! It started when I downloaded Max Payne 3 again after a rather long hiatus from the game due to the awful multiplayer balance issues. The big plot that kicked off this entire episode was a fun time filler with Amy desperately running from the Dentist arguably being the best gag of the arc. We’ve seen her put up a front before, but it’s always great to see the Rosa character grow more comfortable with expressing her feelings. Brooklyn Nine-Nine continues to carefully craft their characters in a relatable manner, and Rosa’s plight with her girlfriend was a nice side story that had some nice growth for Ms. So the 99th Precinct has a hacker and Rosa is having love problems This sounds like a match made in heaven. Perhaps the best moment was with Rosa reuniting with her mother at the end of the episode. Another highlight was Jake promising nearly every one under the sun that’s he’ll solve the case was a good laugh as well. The running gag or Rosa’s hair and the quirky Franco McCoy (Michael Mosely) helped balance out the serious moments of this episode. Jake and Rosa promising the mother to solve the crime was a “tug at your heart strings” moment however, it ultimately made the arc compelling and it was hard to not root for the two detectives to finally solve the murder case. While Jake’s excitement over officially having a dope murder is a goofy, the actual crime itself is treated with respect and its pretty cool to see these detectives and their personalities clashing with these unique crimes. Despite the crime, Brooklyn Nine-Nine doesn’t typical treat their murder cases seriously however, the show does a good job of not going too over the top. We officially got a dope murder for Jake Peralta! This particular episode mainly focused on a sweet (and very gruesome) murder of a mysterious man in an apartment building. Despite being polar opposites when it comes to personalities, Holt and Gina felt like brother and sister throughout the series and it helps that Peretti and Andre Braugher have such amazing chemistry. The Captain’s frequent trash talk provided some hilarious one liners however, him trying to make sure that Gina had a plan was a nice tender moment. The best moment was her and Holt playing chest. The cold open of Gina’s meeting kicked off a wildly entertaining episode From pretending to do a tremendous flipping route, to her elaborate warm-up, and the running gag of her sweat shirts that saw Amy become Arnie for one episode, this was the perfect way to exit out Chelsea Peretti’s character and her signature “Gina” moments were both sweet and hilarious. Four MovementsĪfter six seasons, Gina is officially leaving the 99th precinct. The childish fight between the upstairs and downstairs people was a amusing distraction, with the show cleverly tapping into Amy’s over competitive nature. The story of the two detectives protecting Goods wife, an innocent victim involved in the case helped round out the two men as good people. The episode provided several great moments, namely the cold open played by Alan Ritchson (Scully) and Wyatt Nash (Hitchcock). Hitchcock & ScullyĬan you believe that Hitchcock and Scully were such studs in their younger days? This episode dived deeper into the young days of the lazy desk jockeys and it put a nice spotlight on Hitchcock and Scully who were actually really good at their jobs. The side plot of Jeffords trying to find Holt’s manual had its nice share of laughs, especially him overreacting to the computer shut down by smashing it into pieces instead. Who knew pineapples were so promiscuous? Holt inadvertently ruining Jake and Amy’s honeymoon made for a highly entertaining 30 minutes. The running gag of Holt’s vacation t-shirts always made for a good laugh. Once again, Brooklyn Nine-Nine does as excellent job of balancing comedy and character development and Holt’s storyline got a chance for audiences to see a different side of his character to hilarious effect. Unfortunately, the loving couple has deal with their boss Holt, who’s sulking in sadness over not getting the commissioner position. HoneymoonĬoconut, sluts, and Holly Gennaro! So Amy and Jake are officially married and thanks to Gina’s referral, the newlyweds go to Mexico for their honeymoon. Let’s not waste any more and check out the top five episodes of season six. To celebrate this amazing show, we’ll count the five best episodes of seasons one through eight. For the past eight years, Jake Peralta, Ray Holt, Terry Jeffords, Rosa Diaz, Amy Santiago, Charles Boyle, Hitchcock, and Scully have made us laugh, dance, sing, cry, and laugh again throughout each tremendous season. Brooklyn Nine-Nine recently said goodbye with their final season officially in the can. |
